Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact with Snapdragon 845, 4K HDR recording announced


Sony just announced the Xperia XZ2, the company’s latest flagship smartphone along with XZ2 Compact at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona. The XZ2 has a 5.7-inch Full HD+ 18:9 HDR screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It also has front facing stereo speakers with S-Force Front Surround.


Sony has finally moved on from the boxy design and the XZ2 has a 3D glass body and features the same Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back. XZ2 comes with a 19-megapixel Motion Eye camera with 1/ 2.3″ Exmor RS sensor with 960fps slo-mo at 1080p. It is also world’s first smartphone with 4K HDR Movie recording and also offers ISO sensitivity 51200 for photos and ISO 12800 for video.  The Xz2 packs a 3180mAh battery with support for fast charging and also has wireless charging.

XZ2 Compact has all the same internals as that of the Bigger sibling XZ2, the only change is the display size. XZ2 Compact has a 5-inch Full HD+ 18:9 HDR screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Instead of a glass back, Sony has gone with a plastic back. 


XZ2 Compact has IP65/68 ratings for dust and water resistance and packs a 2870mAh battery with support for fast charging, but it doesn’t have wireless charging like the XZ2.

The Sony Xperia XZ2 comes in Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green and Ash Pink colors while the XZ2 Compact comes in Black, White Silver, Moss Green and Coral Pink colors. 

Both smartphone will roll out globally starting from March 2018. No word on the pricing yet.
